The West Singhbhum Photographers’ Association celebrated World Photography Day with enthusiasm at Chatni Garden near Borda Bridge, Chakradharpur. The annual celebration, observed globally on August 19, pays tribute to the history, art, and significance of photography.

According to historians, the world’s first photographic process, the Daguerreotype, was invented on January 9, 1839, by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and Louis Daguerre. Later, on August 19, 1839, the French government officially announced its invention. In commemoration, World Photography Day has since been celebrated every year on August 19 worldwide.
