Train Collision

A major rail accident occurred in Chandil, Seraikela district. On Saturday morning, a freight train derailed, and its wagons ended up on an adjacent track, where they were hit by another freight train. The accident took place near Chandil Junction station, under the Adra Railway Division.

According to reports, a freight train loaded with iron ore was traveling from Tatanagar to Purulia. After crossing Chandil station, it derailed, and several of its wagons fell onto the track coming from the opposite direction. As a result, another freight train coming from the opposite side collided with these wagons, causing several of its own wagons to also derail.

The accident is said to have occurred at around 4 a.m. on Saturday morning between the Pitki railway gate and Chandil station. Fortunately, both trains involved were freight trains. If it had been a passenger train instead, the loss of life and property could have been significant.

Local residents reported hearing a loud crashing noise early in the morning. When they arrived at the scene, they found the two freight trains had collided. Railway officials and rescue teams quickly reached the spot and began relief operations.

As of now, the cause of the accident has not been determined. The railway authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
