Chakradharpur to Host Grand Tribal Gathering on August 24 at Podahat Stadium

Chakradharpur, West Singhbhum (Jharkhand), August 17, 2025 – The Adivasi Coordination Committee, Chakradharpur, has announced that a grand tribal gathering will be organized on August 24, 2025, at Podahat Stadium, Chakradharpur, to mark the celebration of International Tribal Day.

A preparatory meeting was held today at the Manki-Munda Auditorium, where members unanimously resolved to celebrate the event with large-scale participation from the tribal community.

Postponed Celebration in Honor of Shibu Soren

Earlier, the International Tribal Day celebrations scheduled for August 9 were postponed as a mark of respect and mourning following the demise of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, the legendary tribal leader. The upcoming program on August 24 will thus be observed as a combined tribute and celebration.

Cultural Programs and Felicitation Ceremony

According to the decision taken in the meeting, the August 24 program will feature:

  • Cultural performances showcasing the rich traditions, dance, and music of tribal communities.
  • Felicitation of social leaders and artists for their contributions to tribal society and culture.
  • A large public gathering expected to witness participation from across Chakradharpur and neighboring areas.

Next Meeting and Responsibilities

The next review meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, during which various responsibilities related to stage management, cultural events, hospitality, and media coordination will be assigned to members.
