Minister Ramdas Soren was paid tribute by MP Joba Majhi and MLA Jagat Majhi.

Chakradharpur: Jharkhand’s Education Minister Ramdas Soren’s demise has deeply saddened Singhbhum MP Joba Majhi and Manoharpur MLA Jagat Majhi. On Saturday, when the minister’s mortal remains reached Ranchi from Delhi, both the MP and the MLA paid floral tributes at the Assembly premises. During this time, the MP also met Ramdas Soren’s son and family members to console them.

MP Joba Majhi said that Ramdas Soren had been her long-time colleague in the Jharkhand Assembly. Since both hailed from the Kolhan region, they often met and discussed developmental issues concerning the area. She stated that his sudden passing is an irreparable loss to the party and the state.
Meanwhile, MLA Jagat Majhi said that during Assembly sessions and other meetings, he always received guidance from Soren. Being a former agitator, Soren was always concerned about the development of the state. He will be remembered as a people’s leader and a man of development.

MLA Jagat Majhi remarked, “During Assembly sessions and other important meetings, I always found guidance and vision in his words. Being an agitator during the statehood movement, Soren was deeply concerned about the progress of Jharkhand. His simplicity, people-oriented approach, and constant push for development made him a true leader of the masses.”
Party workers and supporters remembered Soren as a leader who always prioritized the welfare of the poor, tribal communities, and marginalized sections of society. His contribution to strengthening education in Jharkhand was widely acknowledged, and many believe that his vision will continue to inspire future policymakers.
Several senior leaders of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and opposition parties too expressed their condolences, calling the minister’s passing an “irreparable loss” for the state. Leaders emphasized that Soren’s political journey—from being an activist in the Jharkhand movement to holding key positions in the government—would remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.
As the state mourns, preparations are being made for his final rites, with thousands expected to join the funeral procession to bid farewell to the beloved leader. Cause of Death:
Soren had suffered a serious head injury and brain trauma after slipping and falling in the bathroom at his residence on 2 August 2025. Initially admitted to a hospital in Jamshedpur, he was airlifted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi for advanced care. He remained on life support under intensive monitoring by a multidisciplinary team of senior specialists before succumbing to his injuries
Political Journey & Positions Held:
Born on 1 January 1963 in Ghorabandha village of East Singhbhum district, Soren’s political career began as the gram pradhan of Ghorabanda Panchayat. He rose through the ranks to become a three-term MLA from the Ghatshila constituency (2009–2014; re-elected in 2019 and 2024). He served as Cabinet Minister for School Education and Literacy from 5 December 2024 until his passing.
