MP Joba Majhi Writes to PM Demanding Bharat Ratna for Shibu Soren

Chakradharpur: Joba Majhi, JMM MP from Singhbhum, has demanded that former Jharkhand Chief Minister and ‘Dishom Guru’ Shibu Soren be awarded the Bharat Ratna. In this regard, she has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Joba Majhi stated that conferring the Bharat Ratna on Guruji would be the truest tribute to him.

In her letter, Joba Majhi mentioned that the respected Dishom Guru Shibu Soren is no longer among us, and the entire state is deeply pained and shaken by his demise. Calling him a messiah who devoted his entire life to the upliftment of society and the liberation of the poor from exploitation, she said his passing is an irreparable loss.
His life was entirely dedicated to the nation—his childhood was spent understanding exploitation, his youth in struggles against moneylenders, and his adulthood in fighting for a separate Jharkhand state through movements and legal battles. He always stood by the truth and emerged victorious.
Having witnessed his father fall victim to exploitation by moneylenders during his childhood, Guruji’s life direction and goals were set early on. Even after losing many loved ones, including his eldest son, during his struggle, he never wavered from the path of truth and fighting for the poor.
That is why he is called the architect of Jharkhand and revered as ‘Dishom Guru’ by the people of the state. Despite several political ups and downs, his unwavering commitment to the country and society earned him immense respect and stature across India.
Now is the time, she added, for the great nation of India, in keeping with its traditions, to pay true tribute to this real social reformer, the messiah of the backward, poor, and tribal communities, and the symbol of struggle—by conferring upon the late Dishom Guru Shibu Soren the country’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.
