This Year, Kudmi Community to Hold Grand Memorial Meeting Instead of Karam Jauwa Bedha

Chakradharpur – The demise of Shyam Sunder Mahato, founder of Madhusudan Vidyalaya, recipient of the Jharkhand Ratna and National Education Ratna, renowned educationist, and social worker, has sent a wave of grief through the Kudmi community.
In recognition of his unparalleled contribution to society, the founding members of Kudmali Bhakhi Chari Jagaran Akhara have taken the thoughtful decision to not hold the annual Karam Jauwa Bedha and other community events this year. Shatrughan Dumariyar and Basant Mahato, the key organisers of the Karam Jauwa Bedha in Chakradharpur, said that Shyam Sunder Mahato was the cornerstone of the Kudmi community. Major events and campaigns like Karam Jauwa Bedha and Negachari were initiated under his guidance, blessings, and support.

In this atmosphere of mourning, the Kudmi community has decided not to celebrate Karam Jauwa Bedha or other group events and festivals this year. Instead, the organisation will hold a grand memorial meeting to honour his legacy. During this tribute, Kudmali Bhakhi Chari Jagaran Akhara will pledge to carry forward his vision.
Young Kudmi leader Basant Mahato highlighted Shyam Sunder Mahato’s extraordinary contribution to social causes. He was the founder of the Jharkhand Kudmali Language Development Council and the Kala Sanskriti Vikas Kendra. In a remarkable act of social responsibility, he donated 5.80 acres of his ancestral land. The community will forever remain indebted to him for his role in education, social service, and the Jharkhand movement.
Looking back at history, he dedicated his entire life to educating poor and underprivileged children and working for social upliftment. Replacing the festivities of Karam Jauwa Bedha with a grand memorial gathering to draw inspiration from his struggles and contributions will be the truest tribute to him.
